Waking up or going through the day with pain on only one side of your jaw can feel unsettling, especially if the discomfort seems to come out of nowhere. Understanding the most common causes can help you decide what to do next and when it may be time to call a dentist for care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are some possible reasons why jaw pain<\/a> may affect only one side and signs that indicate you should not ignore it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Teeth Grinding and Clenching<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the most common causes of one-sided jaw discomfort is teeth grinding or jaw clenching, especially during sleep. Many people subconsciously favor one side of their mouth when they tense their jaw muscles, which can lead to soreness, muscle fatigue, or stiffness on only one side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
